Why Study WSET Sake?

Internationally Recognised Qualification
WSET qualifications are delivered in over 70 countries worldwide through a network of more than 800 Approved Programme Providers. With a globally standardised curriculum and assessment system, WSET provides an internationally recognised framework for learning about sake.
Launched in 2014, the WSET® Sake qualification allows students to explore Japanese sake through a world-class educational programme.

Learn Sake Through a Structured and Logical Approach
WSET goes beyond memorising facts and terminology. Through a structured approach, you will learn how ingredients, production methods, and regional characteristics influence the style, aroma, and flavour of sake.
By understanding the logic behind sake production and evaluation, you will be able to explain why a sake tastes the way it does and communicate its characteristics with confidence.

Master the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT)
WSET teaches a globally recognised method for evaluating sake objectively. Using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT), you will assess appearance, aroma, palate, and quality in a clear and structured way.
This framework helps beginners build confidence and provides professionals with a common language for communicating about sake in international environments.
Three Levels of Learning for Every Stage
WSET Sake qualifications are structured across three progressive levels, providing a clear learning pathway from beginner to advanced. Whether you are new to sake or an industry professional, you can build your knowledge and skills step by step.
